Legal
Terms of Use
Effective 28 July 2026
1. Agreement and operator
Joashdev operates the official Lootr project from the Philippines. These Terms cover official releases, the website, and the feedback service.
When you install or use an official release, you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use official Lootr services.
These Terms do not reduce your rights under the open-source license. Independent forks can use different terms.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old. You must also have the legal capacity to accept these Terms.
3. Product boundary
Lootr is a manual, offline-first recordkeeping tool. Lootr is not a bank, lender, broker, adviser, accountant, tax preparer, or fiduciary.
Lootr is not a credit-reporting agency, payment processor, or money transmitter. Lootr does not hold, transfer, or invest money.
Lootr does not connect to a bank or verify the data that you enter.
Forecasts, reports, categories, OCR, voice text, and AI suggestions are estimates. Check each result before you make a financial decision.
4. Alpha risks and backups
Lootr is prerelease software. Its features, file formats, compatibility, and availability can change.
A defect, failed migration, device failure, uninstall, or operating-system action can cause data loss.
Keep a tested independent backup. Protect your exports, receipts, device, passcodes, and recovery data.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use official Lootr services for these actions:
- Break the law or violate another person's rights.
- Publish private data without authority.
- Attack, overload, probe, or bypass a security control.
- Misrepresent a modified build as an official release.
- Upload malware, passwords, or financial databases.
These rules do not prohibit lawful security research or open-source modification. Use synthetic data and report vulnerabilities privately.
6. Your content and public feedback
You own the content that you create. You control your local ledger content.
If you submit feedback, you direct Lootr to publish the approved report. You must separately approve each screenshot.
You give Lootr a worldwide, nonexclusive, royalty-free license for the submitted content.
Lootr can host, copy, display, and use this content to operate, secure, document, and improve the project.
Submit only content that you have the right to share. Public systems can copy and index your report.
Complete removal from every notification, cache, fork, or archive can be impossible.
7. Open-source license and marks
Lootr uses the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3 or later. The repository contains the complete license.
That license controls your rights to copy, inspect, change, and distribute covered code. These Terms do not add a code restriction.
The code license does not give permission to present a modified build as an official Lootr release.
8. Third-party terms
GitHub, Cloudflare, operating-system speech services, and app stores have their own terms. You must follow applicable third-party terms.
If you get Lootr from Apple, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies.
These Terms do not replace Apple's standard agreement.
9. Privacy
The Privacy Policy explains how official Lootr services process data.
Do not use public feedback for a security report or privacy request.
10. Fees and store terms
The current alpha has no Lootr subscription or in-app purchase.
Before Lootr adds a paid feature, it will show the price and all payment terms. These include renewal, cancellation, tax, and refund terms.
Store rules and mandatory consumer rights also apply.
11. Ending use
You can stop using Lootr at any time. You can delete individual records or remove all app data through your device.
Lootr can restrict an online service to stop abuse, meet a legal duty, or protect the service.
A loss of an online V1 service does not delete the ledger on your device.
12. Warranty disclaimer
To the extent that law permits, Lootr provides official software and services “as is” and “as available.”
Lootr does not promise uninterrupted, secure, accurate, complete, or compatible operation.
The AGPL contains more warranty terms for covered software. Mandatory consumer rights remain in effect.
13. Liability limit
To the extent that law permits, Lootr is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss.
This limit includes loss of data, profit, revenue, opportunity, or expected savings.
This section does not limit liability when the law prohibits that limit.
14. Governing law and disputes
Philippine law governs these Terms. Mandatory consumer rights and forums in your home jurisdiction remain in effect.
Before you file a claim, send Joashdev a private message. Give Joashdev a reasonable time to resolve the issue.
15. Changes and contact
Lootr can change these Terms when the project changes. Lootr will identify a material change in the app, website, or release notes.
New terms apply from their stated effective date. If you continue to use Lootr, you accept the new terms where law permits.
For a private legal or privacy question, use the private contact form. Identify the request in the title.
Do not attach financial records, backups, receipts, identity documents, or passwords.
